Integrated Design
AIA reports that architectural clients’ number one concern regarding green design is, “It’s too multi-disciplinary.”
At the same time, building owners find most sustainable envelope design elements add value through energy efficiency, HVAC equipment capacity savings, and, most importantly, occupant health and productivity.
Integrated design involves all disciplines and design professionals. It helps maximize LEED points and reach the intended green design goals.
These goals, preliminary product selections and proposed performance levels should be shared with the entire design and construction team. Wausau’s LEED Accredited Professional, sales representatives, engineers and installing partners often are called to participate with the design team in “charettes” to ensure appropriate coordination and implementation.
Upon request, Wausau can provide 2-D and 3-D architectural models. For dynamic, 3-D models, Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools can provide project teams with real-time visualization of building geometry and geography of the proposed project, as well as quantities, qualities and spatial relationships of its building components.
